Aronia
Aronia
This is a native shrub from Eastern North America, ranging from Florida to Nova Scotia, inland as far as Indiana, & as far off as Greenland. These berries are more sour than sweet, due to the high level of Vitamin C and antioxidants. Aronia juice can also be used to make wine, and is also used as a soft drink flavoring.
Aronia's total Anthocyanin content is 1480 mg per 100 g of fresh berries - Aronia's rich antioxidant content may be beneficial as a dietary preventative for reducing the risk of diseases caused by oxidative stress.
